Was a long weekend and had no games which is always bad for the wallet.
Had lot of time so went to see a friend who owns indoor training facility and also sells equipment. He is also the distributor for Spartan in US which meant lot of Spartan bats all over the place.
Picked up quite a few bats mainly Spartans. First impression - the LEs are all good, nice pick up and ping.
I went there to get Spartan MC LE small mens but then saw this SS DK19 and decided to go with it. Wanted to own a SS for sometime now but the retailers I spoke to were like this profile is not possible in this weight blah blah.... Finally found one....
About the bat -
Weight - 2lb 9oz (couldnt believe it. Checked at the store and the post office, same weight)
Grains - 9 straight grains
Concaving - None
Edges - 38 mm
Spine - 65 mm
Ping - Impressed so far. Best from a new bat I have ever seen
Pick up - Nice. I really cant judge if it picks up 2lb 7oz or 8 oz or whatever. 1 oz is too little for a human to tell the difference. I usually put the gloves on and try to practice the shots I play most often and if it feels good, then thats the bat.
Michael Clarke was in US when they opened the store and they had requested him to bring one of his personal bats. I got couple of pics of that bat too. The bat weighs 2lb 10.2oz (surprising
). I thought he used 2lb 6-7oz. Pics of inaugration -
