So we was in a muddle yesterday, they needed 80 of 20 overs with 8 wickets left, and I'd ran out of first team bowlers(one bowling pants, other two looking loose through tiredness) so I turned to the second xi bowler I'd been sent due to shortages.
Dot
Bowled
Lbw!
Boom hat trick on, but we discussed and chose not to bring everyone in as runs saving was the priority(may well have helped with the next ball)
So bowler runs in, and pitches one on a good length, about 8 inch outside of stump. Batsmen wafts and missus, stumper takes, and.....
Instantly the batsmen strolls off down the wicket, no running, just a nonchalant stroll. Stumper whips bails off and appeals, finger goes up.
Batsmen looks baffled, proclaims umpire had already called over.
Umpire replies "there's still two balls left son, why on earth would I call over"
Batsmen then has a go at the non striker for calling him through for a run, non striker just stood there looking baffled like the rest off us.
After the game, the oppo were trying to have it put down as a run out, claiming they both thought it had gone through the keeper(non strike must have been prompted as he was adamant he'd said nothing while out there) but the umps insisted he wasn't running anywhere in a hurry, he just strolled off!
Very random wicket/hat trick indeed,
