Another repair job
« on: July 07, 2014, 02:01:56 PM »

Here are the before pics of a Newbery TT I've been asked to repair.

Will do some after shots when it's finished (and maybe some during obese if I remember)

Update, glued, sanded down and a coat of oil on the face.
When the glue I used to stick the stickers back down has dried I'll give the whole of the bat another oil.

How long you had this bat for? Just wondering...

Wasn't pretty mate, had gone right through but in three directions, hopefully I can get it finished before I go on holiday this Saturday.

How'd you manage to sort it then?

Upended her up, filled with glue as best I could then clamped as tightly as I could until the glue dried.

As has been said before most things can be repaired, but the repair won't necessarily hold.

In this case I'm lucky as it's being kept for sentimental reasons so the strength won't be fully tested (but I'm confident that the repair is solid).

And the end result!

Very happy with how it's turned out, especially considering how it was when I got it.
I'm off on holiday this week and the owner is away the week after, so what he thinks will have to wait, until then let's see what me fellow forumites think of my work  :D
