Fundraising Idea Thoughts Please!
« on: May 27, 2014, 02:29:37 PM »

Hi Guys

Just thinking of a fundraising idea, the one that keeps coming back to me is a under 9s cricket Gala (Done a lot in football).

I was thinking 12 teams in groups of 3 with the top team from each group progressing. 4 mini pitches on the go at once.

Would it be wrong to ask for a fee of £20/25 per team, to cover 10 medals and trophies plus raise a little?

We have a bar and I would look for a local supplier to sponsor beer, In addition I would look to supply food and sweets from our kitchen.

Maybe get a ice cream man on the ground for a good fee….

My deliberation is that we don’t have a junior set up, would this be an issue or would clubs be happy to just bring their kids to a well organised event?

Would the above work or does anyone have any thoughts, or things which I should consider??

We run a raffle bat where you buy a bat for £50 pound and get a big card with numbers on 1-50 and sell each number for the amount you need so if you sell for £ 3 your club makes £150 minus £50 for the bat.

My club is hosting a 6-a-side tournament later on in the summer. In the past, we have found that the actual tournament doesn't raise the majority of the money, but bar sales do. We were thinking of having a junior tournament, but we thought it wouldn't generate the 'revenue' that would make it worthwhile.

I think there is a thread on here from last year (?) where people shared their ideas and what they have done in the past. We host raffles on busy match days and also have a weekly draw where the club keeps 50% of the takings and the rest is given to the winner and that seems quite popular.

We did the raffle bat with b3,  although it was 50 plus vat, so 60 quid. And made 140.

We also did a 24hr sponsored poolathon, and made just under 1200.

We used to do a bonfire at our club, and although bar profits were 3k for the night, we've stopped as the police would only send a pcso, and last time a guy got glassed(lovely area we are in) and the pcso legged it!
Far to much hassle for the money, so we've stopped.

We have held live music events, plus jubilee celebrations bought money in. Just gotta think outside the box, to get locals to the bar.

We do car boots and bonfire, though the bonfire is more limited to members and family!

Love the PSCO running off!

A curry night? We agree a set price with local curry house then put £5 on top for the club. We raised £300 in a pre season curry night and one of our sponsors is a restaurant, we did the same with them in the winter, raised £500. We also raise sponsorship through Sportspack and host our dinner dance at a local hospitality venue, who are now our main sponsors. Thinking about it a lot of our fundraising involves food and booze :)
