Smelly helmet problems!!
« on: September 02, 2014, 08:18:56 PM »

My helmet actually stinks, and my masuri pongs a bit to!

I've just given my helmet a bath, washing the inside and cloth covering in a hope to get rid of the stink from it. (Don't you love "barely used" items on eBay!)

Anyways, it's been in the shower, I've soaped the inside of it and rinsed thoroughly and the sweat bands have all been removed for a proper wash in the machine.

If that doesn't work does anyone know how to cure a repulsively smelly helmet?? (If you can't help here I might ask the embarrassing bodies forum!  :D )

OH COME ON!! I CAN'T LEAVE THIS ALONE!!

Firstly, if you edit your statement, you get this:

My helmet actually stinks, I've just given my helmet a bath, washing the inside in a hope to get rid of the stink from it.

Anyways, it's been in the shower, I've soaped the inside of it and rinsed thoroughly, if that doesn't work does anyone know how to cure a repulsively smelly helmet??

Secondly - have you tried wiping your helmet after use with antiseptic wipes, or intimate female wipes?  Lastly, I like nothing better than treating my helmet to a nice spring clean once a year, getting into all it's nooks and crannies and inaccessible areas with a cotton bud dipped in bleach, then spray your helmet with a nice scented body spray.

Job done  :D

Brucey you never fail to deliver!

As I said it was "lightly used" on eBay so it serves me right really.

It's had a (rather deep) spring clean, will give a spray with something g nice smelling when dry and hope for the best.

Cheers lads, great advice on helmet hygiene!  :D
