Old thread but was in my new replies - Any update on this CumbrianPete? Did you continue the test to the end of the season, if so how did it go?

Hey, thanks for asking.  I've just been reading a new thread about this which led to a similar discussion.

I did try it for another two matches and it went very well.  I just felt like I had a little more freedom of movement, quicker hands standing up as no chance of the pads getting in the way and more focus on watching the ball into my gloves.  It's easy to slip into bad habits and use your pads occasionally when you're wearing them, when you're not wearing them then you don't!  It definitely improved my technique for the three games I did it.  My team mates didn't even notice as I usually wear Newbery under trouser pads, but commented that my keeping was the best it had been all year!

I then went back to pads for the last game of the season to see whether how that felt and I again kept really well, so maybe it's worth doing it every now and then to sharpen up.  I wont do it in indoor nets when the pace of the ball is a lot different to our slow Cumbrian wickets, but I'm tempted to try it again at some stage next season.

Thanks for asking.
