Process hasn't, but the time taken has! I think John Gasson at Gray Nics said in a video that he could make anywhere between 100-120 bats a day before bats became modernised, (I'm guessing he was talking about the shaping process) but was limited to about 10 a day just before he retired, because having to concave a bat adds a lot more work in!
