Alternative uses for Shoe Goo
« on: November 25, 2014, 10:49:04 PM »

Hi guys

Another one of my pikey DIY topics (it's been a while since the last one)!

This time masuri repair/modification using Shoe Goo.

Now we all know that it's great for the toe of your bat, but you can also use it to re-stick these when they inevitably come unstuck!

The second idea I had was to replace the broken buckle clip thing on the chin strap. I had an old Slazenger helmet that I used to donate parts (the nice inside has been transplanted into this masuri club already, thread here http://custombats.co.uk/cbforum/index.php?topic=31469.0)

I didn't get any pictures before as I didn't think about it at the time, but I cut the stitching away to remove the old clips. I then put the new piece in (a fixed slide to tighten rather than clip that could be undone) and used Shoe Goo to stick the material together.

It's covered with tape now but the join was neat enough (ignoring the excess glue as I got carried away) and I'm happy with the job.

I've effectively got a cheap Masuri shell with a top of the range Slazenger interior now!  :D

Apologies about the pictures, used an iPhone in a not too bright room haha
