Hey guys just wanted your opinion on whether workbenches like these could work as lower budget options for making a cricket bat:

The main thing I wanted to know is whether they would be heavy and sturdy enough and if the vice could function properly for sculpting a cricket bat.  Also, these are just two examples I used, just wanted to know about workbenches like these.

Surprised no one has replied.
You might get away with using one but I do a little carpentry for DIY purposes and use a Black and Decker workmate similar to these.
Unless you stand on it and brace it with a knee it will walk around and the frame work will twist.
Basically you will have to bolt it down to the floor and weld in a load of bracing to make it rigid.

Better to buy some heavy timber and build a bench bolted to wall and floor then add a woodworking vice and a support. The heavier and more rigid the bench, the better it will be.

Not really ideal, it will move around loads and won't help when shaping. You would need to secure it to the floor or wall but still isn't ideal for clamping the bat. You'd be better of finding a sturdy bench and fixing a decent clamp to it.

I use one. Agree with Ryan, but I'm mostly sanding, if i was shaping with a draw knife it would be a pain. Sand bags to weigh the bench down has been suggested before.
