i think that article sums up why bats aren't a problem. the fielding restrictions and new balls make it less risky to go for the big shots as the ball travels further and there are less people to catch them.

I think though after reading a few bits about this the last couple of days the biggest difference is in the mindset of the batsmen the new shots they practice, their no fear approach the top batsmen can now score run in 355 degrees of the field this has all come about from t20 cricket being played

Your exchange with Selvey made me chuckle.  The fact that Gray Nicolls backed you instantaneously and Selvey decided not to address their first hand/well made point is hilarious. 

Just shows that the media is not always right, and when they are clearly wrong they make no attempt to backtrack, instead just ignore it.

Also, agreed on George Dobell, a credit to a largely average trade.  In addition, I look out for anything by Ed Smith and Rob Steen.
