Spikes without spikes
« on: February 09, 2015, 09:17:53 AM »

Hi Guys,

I have recently bought a new pair of Adidas Spikes to replace my old ones.

I have one game this season where I will be playing on an artificial  Wicket.
My question is can I get away with taking the spikes out of my old pair of cricket shoes and using them just as "normal" shoes? never done it before only ever used trainers on an artificial but they never feel the best!

Thanks

You can do, but then you risk filling the holes with dirt in the outfield. Best bet is to buy some rubber screw in ones to protect the holes.

I'm using one of my pairs of Nike spikes as normal trainers at the moment, not that I plan on putting spiked back in them so filling the holes with dirt isn't really a concern

yea I would only be using them on artificial pitches. Would they work without the spikes indoors for nets too? I doubt they would be as safe as trainers but I again have never tried

I'm using mine for indoor nets and find they've got better grip than normal trainers.

I use mine without spikes in the nets and haven't slipped yet.
