A role model? Crikey!

That's what I thought too but if he puts the work in to get back in the team and does. He deserves a bit of recognition of the work he puts in.

He can show the others that determination is a good thing.

I agree credit where credit is due, which is the problem really because he got no credit for being best of an otherwise bad bunch (of performances) at the last Ashes, so it still comes down to the other stuff. I personally fit into the Vaughan camp where I believe he just needs better management. I can't see this leopard changing his spots. May be he shouldn't. Anyway he will be held back by the caveat that those selected will not only need to have runs to their name but also be 'seen as a positive influence', which is subjective (tho' not if you're looking at the runs column, which what you should be doing in my opinion). Broad disappoints me and to my mind is not a positive influence presently. By the way, why on earth would you admit to nightmares about being injured by bouncers in the middle of a competition?

no place in the test squad?? What are their avg#s?? KP's is no doubt higher than the current mob!  ffs just look at Sangakkara etc, you cna play as long as you want to really. Seems to be desire goes before the body most of the time. ODI wise, he's miles better than ANY of our top order batsmen so walks in, same with T20.

He needs to score LVCC runs though to prove the doubters wrong. I don't want England to nurse kids through, that's what county cricket should be doing. England should simply pick the best xi for each test match, if they are all 35 then so be it, stop running it like a bloody county side where you bring in a 22yr old and 'develop' them.. Let the bloody counties develop them!

According to bbc Surrey will sign him if he commits to all 3 formats and drops ipl.

Sunrises have said they are happy to release him to do so.

All up to kp now.

To gain any sort of consideration he'd have to be top run scorer in the county championship really.

surely he only needs to score as many (or more) than a current player?? he has proven ability so as long as he's doing well he's a better bet than cook, robson, balance etc etc  Why does he have to do more than anyone else?

If he's got the attitude of sticking it to the selectors i think he'd score sackfulls of runs.

Why does he have to do more than anyone else?

Because they jettisoned him for being a disruptive influence? And because we keep hearing he's a much better player than everyone else?
