I have to be honest I don't like these really flat "duct bill" toes.

I must say that is something I have been focusing on this World Cup...looking out for Duck bills :)... is there a reason why so many players are using this profile? Does this let one have a meaty bat with a lighter pickup that's needed on the quicky and bouncy Aus wickets? Is there a logic to the trend? Would duckbills be useful on low English pitches?
HAving used duckbill Hunts bats for years on English pitches, I'd say it makes little difference. Does give the bat a slightly lighter pick up though.

I like Steve Smith version, very nice indeed.
Ditto.

I recently attended the tri series final at the waca and stood 2m behind the practice nets and had a great look at bats.  Smiths bat is absolutely pure, was perhaps the lightest/smallest of the bats I saw - guessing its a massive 2.6 bat or the like.  The shape was imo perfect and all edges of the bat looked perfectly formed, it was extremely 'white'  The biggest bat was roots six6, which looked nothing like even a player edition bat, best stickers, morgans spartan, I think that game was its first outing (albeit very brief)

They dont look good but has amazing pick up. And the weight distribution is such that it packs a punch.... i like the duckbills, been using it for a  year now.

The Steve Smith bat looks so much like SS pasted below. Are they made by SS?

How thick do you think Steve Smith's bat toe is? Looks like 25-30mm to me. Wouldn't mind a profile like that but the middle placement higher up the blade. George Bailey has a similar profile, 2:30 ish:-

Funnily enough, they actually look like the 860 and 1080 NB profiles...

Haha I wish that one was mine! Mine is the old Achieve shape, and is a lower grade. Still looks stunning for the price mind you! :)
