What's going on with this?
« on: May 30, 2015, 12:41:46 AM »

I got a new bat almost two months ago. Aside from some extra knocking in and a little practice with it, I haven't done a whole lot with it. And, as I haven't played the last few weeks, it's just been sitting in my room (not particularly warm or cold and not near any radiators that have been on). When I got it out of the sleeve a few days ago I found these small weird, slightly raised blotches all over the back and edges of the bat (see images below). I've never seen this before and am curious as to what it is and what I need to do to stop it and fix it.

I'm no expert but looks like spots where water/moisture has come into contact with your bat. No drama should sand out and give it a coat of oil. Could be wrong though.

Agreed. Small water droplets got in somehow or some sort of condensation caused it. But the spots of that color and shape are definitely due to water.

Definately water drops. Really fine sandpaper will sort it. Nothing to worry about.

I had this recently on bat I bought from the forum. The guy said it possibly a combination of light rain and bat wax and I believe him. It went and never came back after a proper wipe down.

Unfortunately mate, she has had it! Rarely have I seen a bat this beyond repair and may even be carcinogenic... Luckily for you, I still have my dangerous-bat-disposal service offer running! Post me the bat and I shall ensure it does no one any further harm.  :D
