Newberry Kudos & kudos 2
« on: June 26, 2015, 10:57:58 AM »

Has anyone got the new Kudos 2 who had an original Kudos? Is it much improved to justify the extra cost or is an original kudos just as good?

One of my mates had his original Kudos break and Newbery sent a Kudos 2 as a replacement.

Does it look nice - yes
Does it tap up well - yes
Is it drastically different from the old one - not that I could tell (other than it was in one piece)
Would it be worth the extra cost - no! Updated stickers aren't worth that much in my opinion

I believe the new upgraded Kudos is 'triple pressed'

which does of course beg the question for those of us who have bats pressed just-the-once, or even a double pressed bat

should we now trash the willow and start again?

 :) :)

@ppccopener or just press it an extra time as soon as we receive it maybe?

And if this "triple pressing" is so much better and justifies an extra premium why not do it to all their bats?

Talking myself into a purchase here.

Hmmmm, yes i'm getting a whiff of that too

There are bat makers on here I know but without fear of being contradicted if the bat is pressed right in the first place doing it another 2 times will do jack diddly and if it's pressed wrong, re pressing it 3 times in total could give you an iron bar in a bat cover

there is, however, a market out there for it like there is for just about everything.

Any one know what grade willow the SPS is? It doesn't specify on the newberry website for the kudos SPS but does on the Blitz T20.

SPS is apparently their top grade, but I'm sure there was one on Twitter not that long ago with a butterfly stain on it!

I have an original Kudos and it is a brilliant bat, seen a Kudos 2 in the flesh over the weekend, went just as well as mine. It looked to have a higher middle and a flatter toe (duck bill) so it would be no good for the majority of slow low pitches we have here upt'north.
