Was just thinking about this and it was something I'd not pondered about before. Why do we use leather palms for batting gloves and has there been any investigation into using a different material (Pittards doesn't count)?

I'm assuming leather is the best material for the job since we've used it for years but I just wanted to put the thought out to the forum.
