bend your elbow at 90 degrees hands high and the bat will be more than high enough especially when you do the backswing .......... a la  Brian Lara

but there is more than one way to skin a cat

matt prior's hands are too low but he scored more runs than me at a high level so i wont argue with him!

the key is the eyes ........... KEEP THEM LEVEL and forget about the height of your backlift

What John says here.

I really like that example - even though Andy Flower has been swapped to being right handed!!

I think for the most part you do what's natural. Sometimes tinkering around does more harm than good. That said, if you try something and it feels very natural then why not give it a go. In the past I've tried bat on floor, low backlift, upright and high backlift. Generally I come back to my natural backlift.

Since the end of 2013 I've used a lower backlift, hands are probably no higher than my hips.  Worked a treat since! If I'm looking to get a bit more leverage on the ball then I can go higher up.
