My Bats
« on: September 13, 2015, 08:54:17 PM »

Now that i've finally gotten around to taking pics to put up here to prove their existance, and apologies in advance for the poor picture quality as I had to use my phone. Here's my bats in order from oldest to newest (ish). These aren't the best looking bats in the world owing to them being from the lower end of the pricing scale (and the dire need for refurbs for the first two) so please do bare in mind that they're probably not going to be to everyone's taste looks wise.

GN Powerbow 3 Star circa 2009. Had this once since I was 15 (was a birthday presents), only relegated it to wet weather use this season after getting the first of 3 new bats. Weight is around 2lb 9 but is quite bottom heavy when only using one grip as is currently the case (apologies for the villageness of the tape on the grip here).

Kookaburra Kahuna 350 (first of two), this one got purchased in April this year and as you can see, is beat to hell after one season of both net and match use (mostly net as you all no doubt know of my selection troubles this year). I don't know whether it shows or not but there's actually a bit of wood missing on the edge towards the back of the bat where I badly miss timed a drive off a first team opener in the nets, and there's also a crack under that tape where some negligent knocking in on my part was exposed after all of one net. It's natural faced and will probably stay that way as it's going to be net only next season, unless I decide to put a scuff sheet on after refurb. Weight wise this one is 2lb 8. Sweet spot is in the middle and pickup is quite balanced.

Kahuna 350 (yep, I liked the first one so much that I got another in the end of season sales). This one will be my match bat next season. Weight wise it's apparently 2lb 6 but unreliable scales are an issue with this one. It's currently got tape running up the edges which is already peeling off (sports direct bat tape  >:( ) but will have a full scuff sheet applied by the time the season starts.

GM Aura 303. This was an impulse buy in an end of season sale (60 pounds) mixed in with always wanting a GM bat but finding them too pricey. Weight is apparently 3lb 2 but the same issue applies with the scales as did Kahuna number 2. Pickup is fairly light (I did ask for light so they probably went off pickup if the weight is actually accurate), profile is traditional and the sweet spot is mid to low. This one is pretty much ready to play in thanks to GM Now but has had 2 light coats of oil to the exposed wood and a good whack with a mallet just to be safe. Intention with this one is to use it during the early season when the ball tends to keep low at my home ground (if I haven't moved clubs).

Always loved the Kookaburra profile shapes, the only thing that kept me from buying them were the ridiculous amount of concaving that the had. 2015 Kooks seem to be a bit more pleasing in terms of concaving :)

I had to use my phone owing to a lack of available cameras, safe to say the picture quality is that bad pretty much all the time.

those are some value for money looking bats. Next time don't buy a bat, invest in a camera  ;)
