Have shaped the shoulders slightly using a rasp and some sandpaper, really pleased with how they have turned out.

just a thought, do you know when people have 1 and a half or 2 and a half grips on their bat? If you make your own as Leo is doing couldn't you thicken the bottom half of your handle to give the same effect of adding half a grip?

Yeah bats can be double bound or you can leave a lot of the wood on the handle to make it thicker

yep you can and many people do, an advantage of custom made!  i have also seen the handle deliberately made thicker at the bottom on a couple GN predators.  heres another for you - have seen a pros bat which only had the bottom half of the handle binded, thereofr thicker at the bottom but no extra weight.
