Bowling machine nets Bristol - venue help
« on: December 06, 2015, 08:49:29 PM »

Do any of the Bristol forumites know anywhere good in Bristol you can hire a net with bowling machine that is not Globe Sports? Usually go there regularly over the winter with clubmates but had a net this week and the surface is (No Swearing Please) - set it on a good length and balls seem to alternate between hitting you in the gloves and coming through shin high, rendering it pretty useless for decent practice of anything except drives.

Any suggestions? County ground must do it but can't find details, anywhere else?

Merchants academy in Withywood school has decent nets + machine, not sure Glos let you hire bowing machine with their nets sadly as its on your doorstep.

This year we're doing our nets at Winterbourne International Academy. When we booked we were given the option of a bowling machine for an extra cost. I've not been there before, but they're supposed to be good.

We've used there the last few years, very little bounce from the surface. Can use the bowling machine for a fiver extra but worth bringing your own extension cable as they often lose theirs! They aren't generally keen on hiring out single lanes either.

I do know a chap with his own bowling machine who'd be happy to assist if you could find the right setting.

Appreciate the comments about Globe, it's not the best for anything other then the front foot wallop and it's 17 yards away.
