Junior bat delivery
« on: December 24, 2015, 11:28:10 AM »

Wanted to share my first experience of a custom bat.

My son was growing out of his size 2 GN Powerbow Academy, and as he's taking his cricket quite seriously I started looking at higher grade size 3's.  The jump in price was enough for me to email John and ask how he could help.

I did my best to explain to John what sort of player my son, what his current bat weighs, the type of cricket he plays etc.  I also asked if he could make a middling bat as well.  John came up with the following two, fully knocked in and ready to play for really not much more than the price of I thought I'd have to pay for an off-the-shelf bat.

I must say the finish on both bats are absolutely beautiful and John is a pleasure to do business with.  He answered emails promptly, was helpful and didn't mind the most inane questions.  The attention to detail is fabulous, even down to putting my son's initial on the top of the handle, stamping his initials on the shoulders and cutting up stickers to fit on the middling bat.

Both are now wrapped up and under the tree ready for the morning. I'm really looking forward to seeing my son opening them.

John - thanks again, merry Christmas and wishing you a happy new year.

Can't go wrong with Bats from John. Had one made recently. Have only used it for throwdowns a couple of times but it's looking good so far!

You son will not be disappointed!

Bat a bit. Bowl a bit. Not too bad at point either!

Hope your son gets as much pleasure opening them on Christmas Day and using them as I did making them. Always great to have a talented youngster using good kit, would have been nice to have this option when I was younger.

Have a good Christmas and let me know how he reacts tomorrow.

I'll still never forget the first bat I got for Christmas. GN Powerspot Lightweight from Morrant.  Was so chuffed when I opened that box!  Was about 12 years go though.   :D
