Taping Fingers

Gday fellars. Just wondering if anyone has any experience in taping fingers before going out to keep and if it has any positive benefits for when you do?

I use a padded strapping tape on most of my middle knuckles, it does a good job preventing previously damaged knuckles getting further injury

Two years ago I did tape my fingers after getting knocks on my thumbs using a figure 8 pattern around the middle thumb knuckle. It is what boxers do to protect their thumbs in case they catch their thumb when punching.

Last season I was either lucky, my gloves were better or my technique was and I didn't get any knocks at all.

In the past I have also tried padded tape above and below vulnerable joints but like most people it was after the horse had bolted. It seemed to help protect the joints fairly well as long as you don't do it too tight and lose the feeling in your fingers it is worth playing around with, see what you like. On the other hand a physio once told me that tape is 99% psychological.

Boots are a good place to look, other pharmacies I'm sure will have it.

Cheers for the info guys! As you say the horse has bolted with my fingers too as they are already rather wonky, but taping them up sounds like a good plan just to ensure no further injury, especially that padded strapping.

That's the stuff I use nowhere else I know does anything like it. They only tend to have to have the odd box in stock. So I order it on line and collect from the store
