Square Toe DIY
«

Was talking to a player on Saturday who says he doesn't like one of his bats (round toe) as it doesn't look as wide as his other does (square toe) when he looks down whilst batting.
This got me thinking, has anyone ever chopped off the round end part of the toe to make it square?
Obviously it would make the blade slightly shorter but does it effect pickup/balance?

I have ( marked it out first with a set square ) if you only cut out enough wood to square the toe it doesn't affect the balance or pickup but it does feel difference in your stance with the bat grounded you seem more upright.

Depending on how much you need to remove, it's going to feel different. Pick up will be different, as will balance and overall weight. May only be marginal but it's going to be different. You may be lucky and not notice it but it's going to change.
