Is anyones club registered as a charity and if so is the benefit worth it?

If churches are seen as charities then cricket clubs should be seen as such too.

After all, cricket is my religion.

Has the obvious VAT benefits if you're purchasing equipment or developing the ground and facilities. Google CASC for full details. Very individual for clubs dependent on situation, as it can also be a hindrance.

Also look at community interest club status, as there may be benefits around asset locking for your club...

Thanks I've looked at casc but from what I've read it has to provide use for more than one sport which we don't. We are in process of net overhaul to tune of 25k so wonder if that vat could be saved

I was Treasurer for a club which was registered as a charity the ground was council owned and the only bill we had to pAy to the council due to the club being registered as a charity was nominal ground rent.
Also being a charity helped me get the club get a 50.000 grant for two ready built changing rooms ground equipment and a 20.000 perimeter fence.

So would ground maintainance like new nets etc be vat exempt?
