Maybe a bat maker can answer this for me i have always wondered how a bat gets pressed without squashing the "spine"/back of the bat?

The bat is held in an almost triangular shaped holder and is padded out sometimes with foam or sponge.
Also the pressing is often done before the spine is at it's sharpest.

I have heard this recently, and it sounds strange, that bats can get repressed after use. A Pro in my club was telling another player that he needed to get his bat repressed. Now i have heard that this allows the bat to get compressed but is it affective or a general practice?
