No need to apologise mate, I hadn't even noticed the difference until I actually weighed it so it's not a problem.
If anything it proves that small weight differences aren't as significant as many beleive.

I would assume the drying out process at L&W is very aggressive.

It must take place before the bat is made otherwise they would be having handles and blades going left, right and centre.

I know they have been looking at a new pressing process for low density willow. Might help with the weight gaining process.

That may only be partly true. A bat I had refurbed/weight reduced also gained a tad more weight over time. So that would have more to do with the dryness of the environment.

Update.

Finished knocking in my red ink, so turned attention to this. And weighed it again.

I bought my l&w bat when i was travelling nz a few years ago, i saw him weigh it at 2lb 10oz. It currently weighs 2lb 15 and a bit. Think im going to take it to hawk for a weight reduction.

Sold this on as too heavy for me. It started life as our skippers net bat, but as its opened up he has prosper fell in love with it.
