Guys got an old bat on its way in the post. I would guess 10 years old, no major damage its a grade 2 salix so decent wood.
Looks like it's been stored for ages and the wood is pretty dark.
Just because I wanted to, I bought it to practice a bit of restoration, not expecting it to be an amazing bat for league games but maybe to get some spring back into it. I like bats and sanding and cleaning them up I actually find it quite enjoyable. Or to quote Fattus 'you are a nerd Mr Miyagi'
Anyway if there's any tips on here I'm listening.
I've got the trusty super glue, various grades of sandpaper and a sanding block, plus shoo glue for the toe.
I'm thinking initially to sand the hellout of the face to get it back to a more white colour and then my 10 year old bottle of gray Nichols linseed oil maybe
Re knocking in? Hmmm never been sure that actually makes any difference.
Spring in here, birds are tweeting and my team mates keep texting saying the season in nearly here
Time to get busy
