Just confirming my train of thoughts
« on: April 18, 2016, 08:40:55 PM »

As i'm always worried about doing something for the first time, like any one else i'm sure! I like to get 100 opinions before I even bother thinking about starting haha  :(

Toe: Light sand, Usual glue and clamp/old grip over the top, sand smooth after glue has dried. Also sand off the dirt on the toe and shoe goo that?

Edges: They look ok to me, look already repaired, just sand as normal and oil/wax?

Also does anyone give the back a light sand and oil/wax with P400 sandpaper, just very fine?

would like a nice clean up before the season starts, also going to add some edge tap to this to hide some of it.

I think you should buy a new bat personally...  ;)

For the toe I'd get some PVA glue in there then use some brown tape to pull it closed while the glue dries.
I'd put some superglue in the edge cracks and leave it to dry overnight. Once all the glue is dry sand all of the face to tidy it up. Work up the grades of sandpaper to 400 or 600 grit, then give the edges and back a fine sanding too so all of the bat is nice and smooth. After that apply a coat of wax/oil then all a new scuff sheet and any tape once that's dried.

Agree with what can has said, sanding on the back I do with p400 then 600 around the stickers and then give the back a wax as well. Also as its such a high grit you don't need to worry about not touching the stickers quite as much as it won't do much damage to them at that grit

Decent effort. Though I would not have the edge tape so far up the blade, I would also cut it 10mm shorter at the bottom. The mottled finish could be avoided if you spent more time sanding with the the lower grades of paper. How long did you leave the wax before you applied the tape?

I left the Wax a decent half hour as just wanted it finished, I have plenty of tape so I can always reapply, i'm always unsure when putting it on whether to go half and half on the edge and face or like i have now more so on the face.

I wasnt sure how long to do the course sanding for so rather than over doing I left it how it was. cheers for the feedback though.

Any ideas on how to wrap the tape around the back, It always creases when I do it especially on the around the middle?

There is no simple way of preventing the tape from creasing. Personally I don't wrap in around the back of the bat.
