So, yesterday 3 forum batting colossi met for a good old batting net at Eversley, to iron out the kinks pre-season. It was rather like seeing Lara, Tendulkar and errr.... Tufnell get together for an orgy of batting, indeed many of the local schoolchildren gathered around the net to watch, barely believing the techniques on display.
On a serious note, at training at my club on a Tuesday night, it's very difficult to get any time on the machine early season, particularly for a 3XI tailender, also we have 3 or 4 rapid youngsters, who do delight in preying on the weaknesses of feeble batsmen and dropping plenty short. Ergo, as I am basically a coward, I don;t get any time to practice my batting.
So yesterday, for 3 glorious hours, in the company of sympathetic nerds, I was put through my paces. I was able to practice getting feet moving toward the ball, getting in line and trying not to back away. Despite being fed a nice diet of 65mph pitched up deliveries to get me in the mood, we also bunged in a variety of yorkers and back of a length stuff to keep it realistic. Then all three of us faced a couple of buckets of deliveries tight on leg stump to practise dealing with those (a weakness for all three of us).
How bloody great is that? I'm sure there are a few of you who get plenty of machine time, but equally there must be a few on here who suffer the same frustrations as me - I relly enjoyed the work, and shall be looking for some more sessions to work on weakness against the short ball etc.
A huge thanks to
@simonmay5 - whom I nearly killed on 4 seperate occasions - and also to
@petehosk for all the filming he did and for actually pinning Simon good and hard

Not sure what the point of this rambling post is, apart from how much fun it was, how much good it did me and I also got the chance to try out my new featherlight Warbird, which contributed to some of the aforementioned Simon-seeking missiles.
Not sure the censor will ever release the footage of me batting though!
