Bat Selection
« on: January 04, 2010, 02:15:41 PM »

I am after a bit of advice for my bat for this season, I have been on the forum for ages, so I know all the usual "Solitaires, Redbacks etc." I have a budget of around 140 absolute maximum including postage. I am open to all brands including Indian, Pakistan brands. I would like to avoid Big brands such as Kook, GN, GM, mainly because of the price and I know you can get the same quality for a smaller price. I have spoken to Talisman about a Newbery on a few occasions and also Ajit at Onlinestockist and Asad at AS Sports, all with very good ideas and have been very helpful. However I still can't decide!! Anyone help me out, Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Millichamp and Hall have some bats left for £120, grade 2 willlow, low middles.

CJI have some lovely Grade 2 bats in at the moment, around £130.

Dan at Vantage cricket maybe worth contacting.

If Talisman can fix you a Newbery in your budget, your search should stop there. At 140 it might not be G1 willow but if performance and pick-up is what you are after rather than cosmetics, then that should work out fine.

The couple of bats I have had (which were originally picked by Talisman - but purchased off a couple of other forum members) have both been guns - in particular one of the Newberys feels just incredible. So I would definately start by looking at what Talisman has in your budget initially?

Yeah pete, have just been speaking to Talisman, and finding out later on, hopefully something in my budget! Salix out of my bidget I would say bit more expensive, not keen on Solitaire until I see as stated before a lighter bat produced and reviewed on here. Thanks for the advice so far
