looking for cricket bats for my teammates
« on: May 23, 2016, 04:20:02 PM »

 Dear batmakers
I am writing behalf of my teammates in USA.
Iam a regular visitor to this forum. I got couple of bats from one of the bat maker in UK . previously I contacted a  bat maker and he  provided some of his cleft pics , I selected a cleft and he made a bat. Iam really happy with the bat . my teammates are really impressed with my bats and their response.Last week one of my teammate made 76* in 35 balls. A new season is just started here in USA, my teammates are looking for new bats.
I contacted my bat maker but seems to be he is very busy in sending cleft pics and discuss the rest. What I want in simple words I want  to select the cleft from min 5 cleft pics   and I want a bat of my own design(don't worry I will send you a bat sketch with measurements) its very simple process. Prompt paypal payment .NO stickers please they do not like stickers, I am not  trying to get blank bat and put some stickers , just I am helping my good friends.
We are looking for one heavy (more than 3 lb in grade 3)one heavier side (2.12-2.14oz in grade 1 or players ) and one lower end medium weight bat(2.7oz-2.9oz grade 1) minimum 5 pics for each grade .
I can write an email and copy it to every bat maker but that is not wright that is why I am writing here.

I would like to know the prices including postage to USA for grade 1 grade 2 grade 3 .

Please contact me at venky.avss AT GMAIL.COM

for further details and information.

Thanks

I refer you to Rule 55 of the forum:-

http://custombats.co.uk/cbforum/index.php?topic=38907.new#new

#55 Never buy bats for your team mates. They will either not pay, want some kind of try before you buy scheme or just generally muck you around. If they want a bat let them buy it themselves. The only person that loses out is you and your money, as you try to offload it on the forum. Try and show them the joys of the forum and watch in horror as they buy an overpriced plank that looks like a kitchen table. At least you tried to steer them towards better willow.

Hello
I totally understand your suggestions and concerns. I am not going to pay from my pocket  they will transfer the money directly to the batmaker from their paypal account. I have their  bat  skeches and measurements my teammates who want buy are very busy guys, one is a doctor and rest are software recruiters so  they are very busy.
Once again I am not buying for them they will buy from their money . Iam just here to help them in getting an idea about the prices and pics of the clefts
nothing personal and no offense please

It's only a bit of banter, so don't take my post seriously! However, it's based on a little experience but as long as you have it all under control then good for you  ;)

Not sure if any bat maker would make a bat with out stickers. Pricing for USA varies as some deduct VAT (don't know the exact term).
unless forum sponsors have a post with pricing...best thing is to email them...good luck

I'm pretty sure the sponsors would be accommodating if you ask specifically for no stickers. I know Hanif got one of his customers a blank H4L so they are willing to do it and Aldred, although no longer a sponsor have sold bats without stickers. If you ask nicely. Generally the sponsors will accommodate you. Not normally a problem having no stickers just the other way round trying to get extra sets of stickers which is normally an issue

Thank you pros
Probably now I am thinking may be I should email them individually.
The problem is we need 3 bats . each bat is of different weight and grade, that is why I  posted here.
Any recommendations (from your experience who gives prompt and good response with cleft pics to choose)
Thanks

John at Red Ink was very helpful and speedy with cleft pictures and email discussion when I got a custom made by him, lovely bat too so would definitely recommend. All of the forum sponsors I've dealt with have been very good in fact, look around for bat reviews and see what you like the look of.

As I stay in US too, always been to Laver for me and my mates. with that being said, no disrespect to UK makers, In fact I like Rob packs blades a lot, but didn't have budget yet. I did try a Aldred butterfly last year but couldn't get much confidence in the bat. Not that bat maker did any mistake, I was trying out a different profile than I am not used to and its not working for me or for any of my team mates that much. Heard really good reviews about John at Red Ink too, and As I am biased towards Laver, My Vote goes to him. And for me more bats from Laver, better the prices on the bats (It worked that way for me).
