I saw a youtube video, I think posted here, of a batsman giving fine edges to a keeper standing up at nets. I first tried to replicate this using cardboard but it only lasted a session so I found a bit of bathroom floor vinyl and glued and screwed it to a thin 'technique' bat.

The cardboard worked well other than its longevity. It allowed the dummy batsman to play shots and get fine edges without them being so thick that you stood no chance of catching them.

I think the ecb YouTube channel had a video of wicket keeping training with Jos Buttler a year or two back, where they did a similar thing but with sticky back plastic instead

Bloody hell... i struggle to hit the ball let alone use that to fine edge it.

Cardboard and a technique bat

Yeah that's the one. Tried cardboard after seeing this video but wanted something that would last a bit longer as I do a 30 minute session with a batsman each week. Really helps me stay relaxed when a batsman plays at the ball in games.
