Pics of your injuries
« on: June 14, 2016, 09:45:51 AM »

I'm sure plenty of us casual cricketers have all suffered injuries over the years. Let's share some of your injuries, from bruises, to cuts, to dislocations to maybe the stranger injuries you've picked up. And with most injuries a good story goes with it.

Disclaimer I imagine this will not be for the faint hearted.

I'll kick off with a good old bruise to the thigh. I got this from m facing the bowling machine in the mid 70s. This was not caused by 1 impact but 2 within a couple of mins, in the exact same spot! The first 1 I managed to grin and bear it and carry on, then the 2nd had me hopping around. This also came via an inside edge and through the inner thigh pad (strettons have been ordered!)

On an injury scale of 1 to 10 I give it 1. Purely superficial and not stopped me from doing anything.
On a bruise scale 1 to 10 I give a 6. Good coverage, about the size of a CD and some good deep purples and mid night blues. I'd have given it a 5 but for the fact it happened through the pad.

After playing for 40yrs now, I think I've been hit on every part of my body at least once.
The worst bruise I had was after dislocating my knee whilst fielding.
I carried on playing, even opened the batting!
It was only when I was out and was getting changed that I saw that my whole leg below the knee had turned black.
I'm sure I have the picture on an old phone somewhere
Once got a full bunger to the chest that left an amazing bruise, you could see the seam stitching and everything!ha

Photo to come of one of our lads after being pinned by their O/S, who was admittedly, rather sharp. It's the best cricketing bruise I've ever seen. And for some reason, the agony it must have caused makes it even funnier :D
