I've had two direct from Matt and bought another from a teammate - all three have been ace.  I noticed with the two I got new that they took a bit of playing in, but once they opened up - which was quick and sudden - they absolutely flew.  I'd say its just a quirk of the maker's style and nowt to worry about.

around here you have to buy 6 bats a season, keep one for nets, keep using your trusty match bat even though you keep meaning to "play a new one in" and by the end of the season sell the 5 for a loss. Its just how things seem to go.

Started playing last year after many years out, bought a perfectly good GM Sigma, scored some runs was happy. Found this site and have made up two H4L part mades, sold the GM now have a Warbird with custom softs, an Aldred, a B3 and a custom H4L on the way.

I've had loads of bats over the years that I couldn't get on with, or was underwhelmed with.
Of these, the majority have all been moved on to people who have scored well with the bats.

I agree as well with the comment about comparing to a favourite bat, it's always hard to replace a gun bat
I suppose that's when the bat buying addiction starts

I think this is important. There are some bats that you struggle to get on with. I had one. Couldn't get the ball off the square with it but it went like a train for everyone else who used it! I finished up selling it on to a team mate who is absolutely delighted with it.

I think one of the major factors here might be that you are comparing it to your match bat, the SS? I have become a huge fan of SS- their pickup and performance is just brilliant!
I have picked up 3 H4L bats (2 Hell fires and one Hattori)- their pickup is not great but performance is good. In my experience they do take time to open up properly.

Interesting, my SS is 2.9 and my H4L WarBird is a shade under 3lb but to me picks up much better!

My 2lb 13 custom SS Jumbo a like, feels it's weight but feels more better balanced than a Team mates 2lb 9 ton, different strokes, different folks I guess.

Your experiences are very different to mine with the only h4l ive ever netted with. Asad sorted out a cracking grade 2 (very generous grading) for a team mate. Its 2'12 nv but it picks up like balsa wood. However, i couldnt find the middle on it. It is really strange. My team mate is very happy with it though.

the good part is, you bought for a good price, so it should be easy to re-sell and recoup almost all of your investment.

Really, not disappointing at all if that happens at the end of the day.
