Jimmy
« on: October 19, 2016, 11:27:48 AM »

out if the first test vs India now too!

hoping this isn't the beginning of the end for jimmy, however if it is i think we're in a good place for him to bow out with the likes of mark wood (when fit) and Jake ball in and around the team!

hopefully jimmy will get one last hurrah next summer and bow out gracefully rather than in a fit of injuries!!

Since Woakes came good I've been less worried about Jimmy retiring. When they're both on the safe side the ball sings for both of them.

With Wood, Ball, Plunkett and Willey(?) In and around the side we have bowlers in reserve

No worries, just cut him from the whole tour, see how the other boys do in 'fodder' conditions, then take a look at him prior to the next home series.

.....and Brucie!!!
Our Brucie may be down on pace in comparison to Plunkett, but those inswingers-a-la-fattus are lethal!!

for me im not worried about a replacement, i feel that he deserve to chose when to call it a day and not be forced into it after everything hes given for English cricket, still love watching his spell vs NZ back in 2008 where he took 21.3-8-43-7

Probably a bonus he's not available, think he would be largely ineffectual on subcontinent pitches anyway nowadays.

Do think the South Africa series will be his last with the sudden influx of injury problems he's having.

JA the Legend has had years injury free and just started to pick up ones now at the back end of his career. He's actually been on the field more than any England bowler I can remember. Of course back-in-the-day they probably played thru injuries more. It's high tech stuff now and every little thing gets shown up.

I think this is a blip and he still could have a couple of years left- I hope anyway....

I'd be more concerned about Broad actually. I'm no bowler(apart from CBF nets !!) but Broad action is strain all the way.......I suspect Broad may lose pace from here on in.....

Oh yes!! The one to get McCullum was rather special and possibly my favourite of the 7!

Think it's the end for Anderson, shoulder stress fractures are difficult to recover from especially at Anderson's age. When he return against Pakistan he was bowling medium to high 70s and was totally ineffective. Whether he misses the whole tour or not, the 6 home Tests will probably be the end. Next winter in Australia won't suit him either

He's not exactly quick now
For the large majority of the summer tests he was bowling in the 70s

Lets remember Broad is now 30, nearing the end of most bowlers careers, he's played alot of test cricket in the last 5/6 years after his string of injuries, Also I think with the weight on his shoulders of the legend that is Jimmy injured, I think he's taken on a rather different role within the bowlers as the mule that just keeps bowling outside off and troubling batsmans patience rather than attacking.. and I'm comparing this to the 2013 ashes series where he too 6 for 20 in 45 balls! bowling at 90+mph... I believe he still has that in him but doesn't need to spend his time doing such as there are other wicket takers in the team.
