LE Pricing
« on: July 23, 2016, 07:27:47 AM »

Just spotted these on the GCCC website,

 http://www.cricketcentre.com.au/fresh-balance-c-20987.html

Seeing some of the pricing for those exceptional GN models itself seemed excessive, but this is just madness for a bat with nothing unique other than its purported rarity.

What are your opinions on this? Is it just a publicity ploy or is it an vanguard of future price explosions of cricket bats?

People keep paying, they'll keep pumping up prices.

What i want to find out is, who these people are. If someone had that much cash to splash, wouldn't they try to get some bespoke bat made as opposed to this type of bat?

They haven't had any problems selling the 50+ bats at their huge price. I had a look at these LE NB bats the other day and they are truely spectacular. Expensive, but spectacular. Enormous and must've had 20+ straight grains.

Why try a bespoke bat?? The majority don't know what these bat makers are, don't care and of course everyone knows of a GN,GM, KOok or,NB. No normal people care if you walk out with a B3, H4L etc as they've never heard of them.

The majority of average cricketers still assume big brands are best. Right or wrong that's their belief. Anyway, just look at the pricing for top end small bat makers.. Hardly cheap! It's going up in line because they can make a fast buck too. It's just business, price as high as you can.

Agree. Flash Harry who can afford/is willing to pay 1200AUD for a bat wants people to know what it is. What's the point spending 600GBP on a H4L custom and have people ask what it is and be horrified when you tell people how much it costs (Flash Harry loves telling people how much it cost)

People want to be able to show thier Bat, "Those are weird NB stickers, what edition is that?" Is a much nicer question to field than "What the **** is H4L??"

Why buy a rare De Tomaso for a million bucks when you can walk into a Ferrari showroom and get a 488?

Wish I was Flash Harry. So I could mug off NB and spend my 1200AUD on 2 H4L customs.

A team mate who works for a famous sticker brand in the south west saw my Aldred and asked what it was. He then proceeded to make many disparaging comments about it. He then looked at my NV and found other negatives. I am proud to have bats that people are unfamiliar with as it only highlights their ignorance.

Id much rather have a handmade and handcrafted bat made in the uk from a smaller brand than a mass produced bat for the 'big' brands that is imported from India, you could probably purchase two custom made bats for the same price of the 50+ or any other top of the range bat from the big brands

At the end of the day, they will be quiet when you start and dispatch them to all corners of the ground.  Big brand or not!  :)
