Hi need to tweak my handle as I want to make it slightly thinner higher up. I have seen some photos where people have used a tape of sorts rather than twine.

What tapes have people used and where can one purchase them from?

I use medical tape from the pound  shop it's  a pound a roll gives a nice feel to the handle
You can also use Kinsinlogy tape

Rigid medical tape is slightly heavier than kinesiology tape . If using kinesio tape , apply it at 100% stretch.  Both work really well . If worried about shoulder /splice strength,  leave 1-2cm of the twine at bottom of the handle . You can smear some pva glue over the end to stop in unraveling.

Got some on order... went with the kinesiology tape.

Just need to file down the handle a bit at the top and make a it a little more shaped for my hands.

Wrap coarse sandpaper around the handle and move up and down until you feel the handle is of right thickness, small hand problems  .

Haha yup it is small hand problem... just don't feel my top hand has enough firmness in the grip... need to make it thinner and more oval or better fit.

I have used a rasp previously which worked once and ruined it on another one. If you want to make the top bit oval instead of round then I guess it is easier. Makes a world of difference getting the top hand right.

Yes rasp file and course sandpaper have no choice but to reduce all my bat handles  due to small hands dispite what the coaches tell us  when hitting out i like a firm bottom hand grip

There's being technically correct and being uncomfortable. I've heard some players say the bat should be an extension of you when batting. So my thinking is as long as you are as comfortable as possible doesn't matter if your technique is a little bottom hand.

IF its only a minor adjustment you need to make, take a look and see if there is a knot up near the top of the handle. In some bats, they tuck a bit of loose twine back into the main binding. While not seeming like much, if you are able to pull out the part thats tucked in (or used to tie a knot), you MAY notice a thinner feel. I've used the bottom bit of the corckscrew on my swiss army knife to do this and it works with a little bit of effort.

Its a long shot, but may save you some trouble.

Twine knots or slip knots. As they are sometimes called  i  always cut them off and glue the twine end to the handle.

I recently got the orbital sander onto 7 of my bats to make them oval bottom / semi oval top . It took a while but was painless effort wise .
