DB3 weight reduction
« on: January 30, 2017, 12:25:17 PM »

Ok, I'm really tempted by a db3. Only 1 stripe as our 2ft high monster is sucking up all other funds. My quandary is this, I have weak wrists and am suffering after batting for 10-15 mins. This is with 2lb9 bats. I looked at the db3 and it can get down to 2lb6 (I think I could live with that as I've tried a 2lb5 Newbury) but a warning pops up saying the profile may not look like I expect at that weight. What would it look like? Where would the Dr remove the weight?

Unless you change the shape dramatically, their normal method is just to take the back of the bat down in height uniformly to get the desired weight I believe, 1mm loss in height being roughly equal to 1oz. Alternatively they might be able to find a light enough cleft to do it without too much change. Best bet will be contact @The Doctor directly, he's a helpful bloke and will be able to talk you through it better than anyone else!

If you are looking for a light weight bat - I would always recommend a DB1 - great pick up / balance and doesn't look too small.

The edge is correct in what he has said above.

I did look at the db1 but as it's quite similar to my Pellara, I.e. mid middle, I was leaning towards a lower middle as I tend to strike low on the blade, plus the slow low stodgy Scottish wickets bounce like sponges. Would it be best to give you a bell?
