I thought i would give you guys the first review on the Pryzm Cricket bat the P4 i purchased last week. I picked it up from Blade Sports as they stock the Pryzm equipment and i thought i would share a few pictures and do a small review on what i think about it.
Specs
The bat weighs 2'10 and is 2-3 cm shorter than a standard length blade.I took a picture next to a normal length bat so you can see the comparison in size. But to be honest i didn't really notice this as it felt no different in the hands than any of other bats. The edges are 38mm and spine height is around the 60mm mark and the toe is 23mm. The pick up is very good in the hands and you have a lot of wood in the whole of the blade so I dont have to always find the middle to get value for my shots!!
If you look on their website the P4 is listed as performance grade willow, and i think this is true. Its not the prettiest but the ping is excellent off the mallet and i think would only get better once i have knocked it in. I'm not a grain snob, and if it feels good and pings then i am happy!
It also states that Pryzm bats are made in the South of England, and this is clearly so as the finish on their bats are unbelievable. If you look at the shape i think some of you guys could work out who the bat makers are. I think i have a feeling i know who it may be,but it would be interesting to hear who you guys think it is!!
The finish is smooth and shiny and i couldn't fault anything on it. The toe guard fitted very well and that is sanded and shaped and this always a very important thing to and adds to the quality you are getting for your money.
And that leads me on to the price of the P4 which i personally think is a steal of £150.00 and i do not think you can find better for that kind of money.
The labels are very good,I've tried to get a few photos on the standard of the stickers. They are embossed and have the pryzm colouring in the pryzm lettering looks really cool.I also thought the yellow in the stickers is something different that isn't about in many current suppliers.
I was impressed with the standard of Pryzm Crickets equipment, all the bats were well finished and i think they are well worth a look. The softs were very well priced and looked good and offered very decent standard of protection. I look forward too taking it in the nets in a few weeks to have a proper hit with my new P4 so i will post an update on how it performs.
I will post pictures now for you guys to have a look, and i hope i haven't bored you with my review but i felt its nice to give you guys a chance to see something different out there in the uk market.
