Anyone who thought I was ranting at the ridiculous release of players by the ECB situation will laugh when they hear that Young Jonny Bairstow - he who needed the Gentlemanly Von Strauss to save him from youthful enthusiasm and inevitabl;e burnou in the first two rounds of the Championship - today played for Yorkshire's second string due to an overwhelming lack of match practice. Go figure...

They were talking about this on Sky yesterday I think.
Also I believe Broad was told to rest and was only allowed to play 1 championship match but had to request special allowance to play more as he had been working hard on fixing his release to get his swing back and was just starting to come back into what he felt was form and needed more game time.
