I saw an ad recently for an unwanted XP80, and decided to adopt it as a playmate for the other XP80 I got from GCCC last month - reviewed here -
http://custombats.co.uk/cbforum/index.php?topic=42248.0This one is a 2000, which means it is from the 'finest' English willow rather than just 'superior' for the 1500.
My pics aren't a patch on Chad's, but here you go.
They are pretty similar in many respects, specs of the 2000 as follows, with the 1500 in brackets as a comparison:
Weight - 2'12 (2'10.6)
8 grains, couple of pin knots (6 grains)
Spine is bang on 80mm (81mm)
Edge max is 26mm (25mm)
Toe min 17mm, max 25mm (18 & 22)
Shoulder min 14mm (14)
Minimal concaving, bowed blade
Handle is fairly thin, couple mm less diameter than the 1500.
Side by side (2000 on the left)
The 2000 feels more substantial (no surprise as its 2oz heavier) but the 'bulge' seems more extreme on the 1500, probably because the other dimensions are lower.
The 1500 has been oiled and I have started knocking it in, so that I can hopefully give it a run out very soon.
The twins also have a new 'big' brother and I will be introducing him to the forum shortly.....
