Lord Sheraton Wood Balsam - drawbacks (if any)?
« on: August 06, 2017, 08:27:43 AM »

Hi All,
I've just recently bought 2 bats and had them knocked in (my purchase review is here: http://custombats.co.uk/cbforum/index.php?topic=42842.msg683040#msg683040).

I removed the stickers from the Hunts and want to polish my bat again.  I hate using linseed oil (which the shop used to knock in the bats), so I wanted to sand down the back and use Lord Sheraton Wood Balsam (http://www.wilko.com/multi-purpose-cleaners/lord-sheraton-caretaker-wood-balsam-original-75ml/invt/0168718).

Will there be any drawbacks from using this?

Also, how often should you wax your bat?  Salix recommends 'waxing little and often' (exact quote: lightly oil/wax the exposed parts of the blade/toe little and often to keep the bat nourished and
protected.), how often is often?  once a month?

Appreciate any help.  Thanks.

No drawbacks. This would be good to use.

Thank you sir, much appreciated.

One more thing, how often should you wax your bat?  Salix recommends 'waxing little and often' (exact quote: lightly oil/wax the exposed parts of the blade/toe little and often to keep the bat nourished and protected.), how often is often?  once a month?

Use a 100% cotton rag. About twice a season will be fine depending on use.

Morning @BatGoonMcClintock , I refresh mine a couple of times a season. By the way, Salix also have a Bat Wax product that they recommend, you can find it on their website. I always worry about using linseed oil, I don't like it when the bat ends up the colour of a carrot.
