Tracking Middling the ball - Coach and player improvement
« on: October 06, 2017, 09:36:14 AM »

Hi All,

has anyone come across something that will track or show where a ball hits a bat?

I have a group of players, including myself, who don't know where they hit the ball on the bat. it can be used as a tool to explain how to improve technique or to decide where you want a middle on your bat

any help would be appreciated, cheers

Matt

Get a middling bat made up to your bat weight?  Shows you if you're middling it. Or seen some people cover balls with white board marker as it'll rub off on the scuff sheet when you hit it

Crich tech sheets do this if you can find any

They go on the bat like a temporary scuff and mark black where ball hits bat and are easy to take of afterwards .

@ dorsetdan - always found an ipad as the most effective tool for video recording although they are always filled pretty quick. always willing to try a cheap goPro though any recommeded and what do you use to watch them back?

@TomLine - that quite a cool idea. I already have a middling bat on order from our friends at H4L so can try both approaches

@roco - cheers. emailed crictech let's see what they comeback with. these seem to hit the nail on the head.

and yes @DorsetDan - the only real solution is having a bat which is an all over middle - the search continues . I think we need to breed some wood with a trampoline! it's the only appropriate solution

i used Impact stickers for golf and just loaded them up on the face, obviously was about 8-10 stickers but it did the job to see where i hit the ball the most

Yeah i thought impact tape, then i got googling. Apparently masking tape works well, just dont press it down, lay it on and let it stick?

Also sprat on foot powder was a suggestion? My be worth looking on a golf forum for further?
