Good to see PCB is taking such things seriously. They should have done this back in 2010.

Guilty players should get ban for life.

Would have liked to seen a life ban. Got to set the example and then have no caveats if they want to get rid of the cancer that is match/spot fixing.

Pakistan cricket is tackling the problem. I take my hat off to them.

weed out the cheats and get them back on the world cricket stage.

Like or hate the Pakistan team( I have many Pakistan friends and they hate the team and the recent corruption) world cricket needs them.

Like other would like to see, once it is proved, longer bans....

there are rumours Butt the ringleader may be due for a recall. Pakistan need to avoid recalling him at all costs. Amir got the benefit of the doubt because of his age and he did as the Captain told him to do(as I understand the situation from Pakistani friends)

Definitely agree that Butt shouldn't be allowed back in at all.
And if it were down to me, Mo Irfan would have got a life ban. And going forward, life bans for anyone else caught!

Believe butt would've been recalled had this not happened.
Don't believe the whole story that his ban is only because he didn't report an approach. Definitely more to this story

Amir's case was an exception. He was too young, naive and followed what the captain said. Others should be ban from international & domestic cricket. Majority of these players come from really poor areas of the country and are not ready for the money and glamour international cricket has to offer. PCB is doing a great job in getting rid of corruption.

Butt and Mo Asif do not fall into this category:

yes Butt for sure is from a middle class background, he was not short of money, from what I know Amir was from a poor background-that's no excuse just a fact.

I hope the rumours of a recall for Butt are unfounded, Pakistan needs to move on.

Impossible to second guess the Pakistan selectors and what they might do.

There will be a new Captain soon, Misbah cannot carry on forever, I hope, I really really hope Butt is not recalled. Or Asif.

It is a good thing that PCB is aggressive about rooting out bad behavior. I also wonder if there is a training program in place to coach and train these players to rebuff advances from bookies and report them without suspicion of guilt and consequences?

Any one who's knows Pakistan team can visit them at the hotel. I know so because my friends have done that.  The access to these players is easy. How would a player know whether a "friend of a friend", a well-wisher, or a person of influence (family ties, money, status in Pakistani status plays a big role in access to these players) is not pressuring them to spot fix and just bantering?! From what little I read in the news, Nasir Jamshed had begged and pleaded with some players to meet him during PSL-2. PCB has to be very strict about player access during tours and tournaments in conjunction with player training/coaching; they also have to give players safe space to report on shady characters preying on their naivette and hospitable behavior. Guys like Nasir Jamshed should've been banished from the setup long time ago - anyone who remembers his performance in Australia/NZ world cup could suspect that something was wrong!

He wasn't charged with corruption. He is being punished for failing to report an approach.

Poor guy, if he had managed to stay off the ACU radar for three years before reporting it like McCullum then he might have been OK.
