How low can you go. Lets talk about twine
« on: April 05, 2018, 10:36:55 AM »

Was refurbing a Laver last night and noticed how low down the handle they take their twine compared to some others.

I have tended to add more twine to any bats that stop a bit high up, mostly as I've had so many bats go through the shoulders. topic=37247.msg592818#msg592818[/url])

What are the advantages and disadvantages, and why such variation.

L&W with a pre and post extra twined CA for comparison.

As you have suggest many believe (Chase) thats the issue with most twine and shoulder issues. I find that most twine on bats is a waste of time as it poorly glued and too a thick material used leaving a loose twine.

There is no disadvantge to too much twine just loose or crap twine.

Advantage if done correctly can in theory aid the longevity of your shoulders.

With the tight well glued amost Fish wire twine i have seen it is well held and increase the longevity.

My old school M & H had twine like that so most likely he just carried it on with Laver.
