My slowly growing bat lineup...
« on: January 20, 2018, 04:43:10 PM »

Since it's the off season (and wifey is out) thought I'd whip out the willow, and line 'em all up.
Not the biggest collection on here by any means, but every stick here pleases me muchly.

All are around 2lb 10oz, save for the one I've had the longest (though it doesn't look it due to factory refurb!) the Newbery Mjolnir, at around 2lb 7oz.
There are a few I've yet to use in anger, and aren't knocked in, but I'll get round to it. Eventually.
Still hankering after more. Will it ever end...? And will I run out of storage room?

From left to right

AFFINITY CARBINE PRO Bought from @SOULMAN1012 and a fantastic stick it is too. They were the talk of the forum a while ago.

B3 BESPOKE CROWN After much discussion with the good @Doctor he produced this thing of power and beauty. Far too good for me.

B3 BESPOKE Net/wet weather bat copy of the Crown. Not a looker, but rates well on the Ping-O-Meter.

COUNTY CAERULEX SUPER SELECTED The latest addition to the lineup. Sourced from Talent Cricket. Been hankering for one of these for ages. Love everything about it. I think Talent use a metal hammer to knock in their bats though.

DUNCAN FEARNLEY MAGNUM SUPER SUPREME My luckiest find. An unused original top of the range Magnum, with Refuge Assurance League sponsorship stickers. Joyous.

DUNCAN FEARNLEY ATTACK! WITH IAN BOTHAM To satisfy my retro DF craving, I grabbed this and refurbed it. It's been wheeled out on President's Days.

GRAY NICOLLS PRESTIGE Took a punt on this online, and came up trumps with this one. Nice heft to it. Yet to see the field of battle.

GUNN & MOORE AURA ORIGINAL Again, an interweb success. I like the Aura shape. Proper bat, yet to see a ball.

HELL 4 LEATHER WARBIRD PRO Quite an intimidating bit of willow, this. One of Matt's finest.

NEWBURY MJOLNIR SPS Had this a good number of years. Recently refurbed with Cadbury stickers by Newbury. A lovely lightweight bat to play proper shots with. Handy against the quicks.

SLAZENGER V 100 Another yet to see the light of day. Decent heft all along the blade, with minimal concaving. Bit of a looker, and another interwebs goodun'. I'd like a V12 to keep it company.

WOODSTOCK TOUR DE FORCE XL PLAYERS LE Lovely bit of wood, this. Woodstock know how to handle a nice cleft alright. Shropshire's finest.

No. It will never end  :D and even if you do run out of storage, you will find new places to store them.

Small but Nice collection mate!

Nice collection! I can't see all the bats as the photos have come out so large, but the B3 Bespoke Crown looks amazing. Best of luck, winter nets are open!

The collection will grow until 1 of two things happen... you can't afford to pay rent or car bills because of your bat addiction or... a significant other doesn't approve and you have to break up (or concede defeat and sell some)

@BIGGIE Yeah, the Mjolnir's from the era of minimal edges and no scooping. Flies away if you middle it, mind. Not so much Thor's Hammer but Thor'sToothpick compared to bats now. But it's still a lovely looking stick.

@Coach I hear that. A new end-of-the-garden bat shed may be the only solution.  :D

All bats look awesome. Great collection.

Looking at the profile view, the edge and spine size of DF Magnum and DF Attack, was something that I would've liked to be implemented under the new maximum bat size rules.

p.s
First  time I read the word "muchly".
Is it commonly used in the British English?

Not a lot, but not uncommon.

Is it just the angle it's at in the photos or is that Slaz an absolute monster?

@edge Just had a measure!
35mm max edge
55mm spine (gently rounded face, so 60mm spine from face)
20mm toe

It's the most concaved profile of the lot, but yep, it's a meaty bat for 2lb 8.7lbs
