A part-time weekend project
« on: March 28, 2018, 02:15:25 PM »

Just thought I'd share some pics of what I have been playing with in my very little spare time over the winter!!

An older player on one of the teams in the area has had this bat for a long time, I first noticed it around 2002, and I have always asked him to give or sell me his bat :) which he always declined politely. Anyways after almost 15 years of pestering him last year he quit and handed the bat over. I would have kept it as is but then decided to clean it up.

This is how the bat looked when I got my hands on it.

I expected a damaged toe and fairly ugly wood underneath, but decided to take on the clean it and hang it challenge. After a lot of sanding and I mean a lot of sanding I got to the wood and grains appeared.

I gave it a coat of oil thinking my job done and realized the white coating had seeped into the wood fairly deep. So out came the sander and more sanding ensued!!

Removed the back stickers, originally I wanted to keep them!!

Handle has not got black cloth hockey tape and black GN grip, Yes i know i need to fix the grip!!.

Lastly i'd most likely go out and buy some items to buff the bat to get a nice finished look and feel to it. Thought I'd share :)
