GM Players
« on: April 09, 2018, 09:45:20 PM »

I had the opportunity to play with mate's GM Players edition bat. It was an absolute belter and potentially one of the best bats I have ever got my hands on. Naturally, the next step in CBF spirit is to acquire one :p

I just wanted to get the thoughts of the knowledgeable folks here:

a) are they really all that special?
b) where is a reliable place to get them given they are kind of rare
c) whats the difference between Players and Original LE other than with Players you are restricted to certain weights

Many thanks !

Original LE:
• The very best unbleached seasoned grade 1 English Willow
• Selected for grain structure and weight
• Limited by Willow availability
• Bats individually tested to ensure 5 star performance
• Fitted with top quality treble spring multi-piece cane handle for outstanding feel, flex and control
• GM Now! And ToeTek finish fitted as standard

• Predominantly straight grained with a hint of colour and minor cosmetic blemishes

909:
• Unbleached seasoned grade 1 English willow
• Predominantly straight grained with colour on one edge and minor cosmetic blemishes
• Fitted with top quality treble spring multi-piece cane handle for outstanding feel, flex and control
• GM Now! And ToeTek finish fitted as standard

808:
• Superior unbleached seasoned grade 2 English willow
• Minor Blemishes, may have some colour to one edge
• Fitted with good quality treble spring multi piece cane handle for outstanding feel, flex and control
• GM Now! And ToeTek finish fitted as standard

707:
• Seasoned unbleached grade 2 English willow
• Minor blemishes, may have some colour to one edge

Based off that I think a 909 or 808 is good value.

GM bats have looked really nice all the ones I have seen.

Players Editions are just that.

Made to the exact shape (Sometimes weight not spot on) but pretty close of their top sponsored players. Off the shelf shapes even in LE are nowhere near the shapes the pros use.

There is a thread with some of them on there. Under "Players editions" I think.

We have had two in the last month, currently have one in the shop, and one on order.
Generally Only ever seems to be one available in each shape, so maybe made at the same time as the batch that is made for the player. No set profile pics as sometimes there are tweaks to the shape.
Stunning grains, thick handle , pick up brilliantly, massive coverage.
Weight vary from 2-9 to 2-11 due to density of willow selected

That makes sense, as I think it is always the current shape the player is using.

My lad used last year and is using a 909 Mogul and I'm just knocking in an 808 Paragon for him (both acquired Black Friday style as a pair from Vitas...). Bargains.
