Handle type
« on: February 12, 2010, 02:30:36 PM »

Just wondered which type of handle people prefer to use?
Personally I love the feel of a semi oval handle, also helps to stop the bat from twisting when one of my horrible swipes is mistimed!   ;)

happy if iv got a semi in my hand...... but prefer the oval in all honesty as IMO it helps reduce bat twisting when in my sweaty palmed gloves!

It's friday afternoon and Ayrtek is clearly "working from home"

I have found that having an oval handle helps me be not so bottom handed - so have stuck to that recently, although it isn't something I had thought about until last season.

One of the podshavers may be able to answer whether the shape (oval or round, rather than length) of the handle has an effect on the balance of the bat - which could improve performance

Not being a particularly knowledgeable person in this area, could someone show me examples of all 3 types please? I've noticed L+W only do oval handles, but I couldn't really work out which other company's bats were round/oval/semi-oval!

mostly get asked for oval handles, I use a fairly thick oval but switching to a thinner one this year.

Oval handle are supposed to reduce twist, not heard if they last longer or not.  It is preference thing, I spent ages with a x class cricketer faffing around with his handle

PS: Talisman where's Leo tools :D I'm getting fed up of him asking about them

oval handles will stop the bat twisting on impact because of the shape, but aside from that its a personal preference

Quite like an oval handle on my bats. Can always be taken away by adding an extra grip...
While we're on the subject of handle types, what difference does having 2 or 3 springs in the handle do? Just ive seen the top salix and Screaming cats with 2 springs. Or is it just a case that these are better quality handles?

Personal preference, oval helps me to reduce rotating my hands.
