Shoulder Crack

Got a shoulder crack today. What’s the best way to repair this. I will be gluing and clamping. Then twine and tape the best thing to do?

Yeah do that. Ive also doweled those as well. If the shoulder is thick enough go through the edge and through the crack. Ive also gone through the blade and doweled.

As you have said glue, clamp and possibly a dowl for added strength but hard to see with the small pics.

Fairly easy as long as hasn’t gone into the handle under the binding as if so will need a new handle

As others have said glue clamp  dowel you could also scuff  also when repaired for the bat  to be  any good the handle needs to be tight.

Alternatively, if the crack seems difficult to solidly repair, you might be able to remove wood on both sides and re-shape into a shoulderless bat.

I use hardwood dowel poles as they are stronger  also you can cut to  length once fitted in the drilled holes without being to concerned re the depth of the hole being to deep.

Personally i would use fluted dowels as the glue gathers in the flutes rather than being pushed to the bottom of the hole as you drive a length of dowel in.
The strength difference would make no difference due to the length of the dowel and close location of the shear forces.

I had similar a couple of years back but a fair bit worse and ended the life of the best bat ive ever used. Lasted about 15 games though.
